The Orlando Cat Cafe is a must-do, especially if you love cats, coffee or tea! It is located in Clermont, FL, which is about a 30-minute drive from the main tourist areas. This cafe partners with the SPCA and all of the cats that you interact with can be adopted! There is a cute cafe connected to the cat room called Minch Coffee. You can grab your favorite drink or snack and then get ready for some adorable cats!
Getting In
You can make an advanced reservation online right here, or you can also walk-in and make a reservation. You can only make reservations online up until the day before. So, if you decide you want to see cats on the same day you will need to make your reservation inside of Minch Coffee. A new group enters every hour, on the hour.
We have always gone during the week, and we have not had an issue with getting a reservation in the next time slot. However, it does get crowded on the weekend so I would suggest booking in advance online for weekends. It costs $10 per person for an hour of playtime ($8 for kids under 12 years of age).
The Orlando Cat Cafe also hosts various events such as yoga, high tea, and a painting event. You can see all of their events on their website!
The cafe is located in Clermont which is a little outside of the main tourist attractions. However, it is close enough for a quick adventure away from Orlando.
The Experience
Once you arrive, check in at the counter of Minch Coffee and they will provide you with a sticker to identify you paid. You also have the option to purchase any drinks or snacks from the cafe. I picked out an iced chai latte from Minch Cafe and then settled into the cat cafe for some cuteness.
You can bring food and drinks into the cat area and then you have a whole hour to play with the adorable cats. There is a worker in the cat area that can answer any questions you have and explain the adoption process if you are interested. They also have a wall of all the available cats that you can explore too.
The cat cafe has lots of options for seating and you are welcome to meander around to see the cats. You are not allowed to pick up any of the cats, however, you can play with them and pet them to your hearts content. There are some cats that have special collars. The collars indicate you should give the cat space and not force interaction on them. The Cat Cafe also has a back area that the cats can go if they need some space away from humans.
There are lots of toys laying around for the cats. You can pick them up and try your best to get a cat’s attention or take a seat and let the cats come to you! I found the sitting tactic to be a little more effective than trying to convince a cat to come to me. Our last trip was in the afternoon, so the cats were a little more mellow. Most of the older cats were sleeping or in the back area. There were two kittens that were running around and playing with us though!
Best Times to Go
The worker said the cats tend to be less active in the early afternoon as many of them are taking their cat naps! The cafe is also very busy on the weekends so there are often not as many cats early on in the week (Monday & Tuesday). The worker said you can always check out their Facebook page to see their available cats. If you are interested in adopting, you can also give them a call to see when new cats will arrive.
Overall Experience
We have always had so much fun at the Orlando Cat Cafe! The workers have always been incredible, and you can’t beat getting to spend some time with cats. The Orlando Cat Cafe provides a fantastic avenue to get cats adopted. It is also a great way to socialize the cats. They take great care of the cats, and the workers make sure everyone is safe.
I highly recommend making a trip out to the Orlando Cat Cafe! I would love to hear from you in the comment section below. Thank you so much for stopping by and reading! Happy Travels!
