Magic Kingdom Overview
Magic Kingdom is likely the part you imagine when you think of Walt Disney World. The Cinderella Castle is front and center, and it has some of the most iconic Disney rides. While it can be a bit harder to get to than other parks, it is definitely worth the additional trek. It is made up of six themed lands that all have lots of great attractions, shops, and restaurants. The gateway to Magic Kingdom is the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC) which houses security, and the ferry and monorail that can get you to Magic Kingdom. If you are staying at a Disney World hotel, you can also take the bus that will drop you off at the entrance. Or Magic Kingdom Resort hotels offer boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom. Alright, let’s head into Magic Kingdom!
Main Street U.S.A.
This is the first land you will get to as you enter the park. It is filled with lots of small town charm and lots of activity! You can find the Dapper Dans, Main Street Vehicles, and lots of shopping. The Emporium, which is the largest shop in Magic Kingdom, can be found on the left side of Main Street U.S.A. Not to mention you get a stunning view of the castle as you turn on to the street. Be careful of the tracks though, lots of people trip over them! You can find some character meet and greets here, and you can also hop on the Walt Disney World Railroad at the Main Street U.S.A stop.
Adventureland
When you have reached Cinderella Castle, you may notice that the park is laid out in a hub and spoke pattern. The castle is the hub and you can reach each of the other lands depending on the direction you choose. We are going to start by heading to the left towards Adventureland. Adventureland is full of adventure, as you might gather from the name. You will discover lots of varying architecture and so many ways to add a little adventure into your trip. This land includes attractions such as Jungle Cruise, Swiss Family Treehouse, Pirates of the Caribbean, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. This is also where you can grab the iconic Dole Whip treat at Aloha Isle!
Frontierland
If you continue your way around through Adventureland, you will reach Frontierland next! This land has plenty of western charm and a rootin’ tootin’ good time awaits. In this land you can experience Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Tom Sawyer Island, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (opening June 28th, 2024). You can also catch the Walt Disney World Railroad from the Frontierland Station. You can also take part in a shooting arcade, shop, and dine at locations like Peco’s Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe.
Liberty Square
Now that we have gotten some wild fun in, let’s continue on to Liberty Square. This is the next land you will come across and it is full of old timey charm. In Liberty Square you can experience Haunted Mansion, Liberty Square Riverboat, and The Hall of Presidents. In addition you will find a wide variety of shops and can dine at locations such as Columbia Harbour House and Sleepy Hollow.
Fantasyland
Next up, we are headed to Fantasyland! This area has lots of storybook theming and rides featuring some of your favorite Disney characters. In this area you can experience “it’s a small world,” Peter Pan’s Flight, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Prince Charming Carrousel, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Mad Tea Party, The Many Adventure of Winnie the Pooh, Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid, The Barnstormer, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. In addition there are various opportunities for meeting characters, and lots of shopping and dining. You can also experience the newest attraction to Magic Kingdom, Smellephants on Parade, in the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland. You can also catch the Walt Disney World Railroad at the Fantasyland Station in Storybook Circus.
Tomorrowland
We are finally rounding out our Magic Kingdom journey, and as you can tell, there is A LOT to do here! Our last stop is going to be in Tomorrowland. This land is all about the world of tomorrow and features some great attractions. In Tomorrowland, you can experience Space Mountain, TRON Lightcycle / Run, Tomorrowland Speedway, Astro Orbiter, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover, and Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. There are also lots of shops available, and you can dine at locations like Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe and The Lunching Pad.
That is Magic Kingdom!
We have finished our journey around Magic Kingdom! While I tried to touch on the main attractions and areas of Magic Kingdom, it is a hard park to condense down. It is jam-packed with lots of stuff, and you truly never know what you may come across here. It is one of my favorite parks even though it is a bit more challenging to get to with having to navigate the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC).
