There are changes happening all over the Orlando area. Disney World is opening up Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom and CommuniCore Hall & Plaza in EPCOT soon. Universal is opening DreamWorks Land in Universal Studios, and building an entirely new theme park called Epic Universe. SeaWorld Orlando is also building a brand new coaster that is set to open “soon.” While we don’t have an opening date for the new coaster, Penguin Trek, yet, we are getting one step closer.
SeaWorld Orlando just announced that the Antarctica Realm will be reopening on May 25th, 2024. This is the area that the new Penguin Trek coaster will be opening in as well. The area was brought down for the construction of the coaster, but it looks like they also did some renovations on the area. In an announcement, SeaWorld stated that the area will include a “revamped Expedition Cafe…al-new South Pole Sips and new souvenir shopping at the all-new Glacial Supply.” Additionally, the penguin habitat will also be reopening on May 25th.
Previously, this area housed a trackless ride, but the attraction never reopened after the pandemic. The penguin exhibit was still accessible, you just couldn’t ride the attraction. However, now SeaWorld Orlando is debuting a brand-new roller coaster in this area. I am excited to see how this area looks, as it was definitely in need of a little TLC before. As well, I am excited to be able to visit the penguins once again.
Penguin Trek is set to open Spring 2024, so it should be pretty soon. The coaster will be a family launch coaster that takes you through Antarctica. The coaster will reach speeds up to 43 miles per hour, and will drop you off inside of the Penguin habitat. The minimum height requirement for the ride will be 42″.
