We have entered into the month of June, and that means that summertime is upon us! While in Orlando, summertime comes with super hot days and lots of rain, it also comes with lots of fun festivities. Universal Orlando is also getting into the summer spirit with their brand-new Summer Tribute Store in Universal Studios Florida. The Summer Tribute store is themed to be a video rental store called Mega Video and we are loving the retro feel of the store. It brings backs memories of going to Blockbuster to pick out the movie of the evening and stock up on some candy. The store features lots of huge hits including Jaws, ET, and Ghostbusters just to name a few.
Come along with us to explore some of the Summer Tribute store, but this is definitely a store you need to see in person if you can! Of course you can get lots of merchandise inside the store too, but all the details are truly the best!
When you first step inside of the Summer Tribute Store you will be transported back in time to a video rental store. Complete with the movie posters and aisles filled with movies. I am also personally a favorite of Mr. Tape when you first walk in. I feel like he is a sassy VCR and I am completely here for it. Plus the amount of carboard cutouts that you can spot, makes my inner child so happy.
The merchandise is sprinkled throughout and you can browse the huge collection of movies, including some horror movies! I am always on the lookout for clues about Halloween Horror Nights, and I have a feeling there might be a few hints in that collection.
The amazing vibes continue throughout and they even have a pretty impressive display of some old TVs. However they are all showing static (does that mean something?). Haha, don’t mind me, I can probably convince myself that the tiniest detail means something. While I think it would be cool to show some old movies, it is probably for the best as I would probably just stand there and watch the movies all day.
Unfortunately, there was no employee to be able to checkout movies, so we just opted for merchandise instead. The attention to detail is incredible. If you get the chance to stop by the Tribute Store, take your time exploring it, there is so much to see! Anyway, moving on to one of my favorite areas!
The Arcade! How cool is this area? This is really making me think back to my childhood, and just wait until you see the carpet. One word: fabulous!
The vibes in this room are also immaculate (I feel like I am saying that a lot…) But, it really is such a fun room. The carpet is magnificent, there are arcade games, and the neon glow is all I could want in an arcade.
Next up, you head into the final room of the Tribute Store, which is also where you can check-out. There are four areas with large props above them for ET, Ghostbusters, Jaws, and Back to the Future. There is even a Halloween II sign in the back corner that makes me wonder if that may be coming to Halloween Horror Nights?
On you way out there is an ode to Earl the Squirrel, and I just can’t get over how cute it is! His little pawprints are adorable!
There you have it! A quick walk-through of the Summer Tribute Store, but know that this didn’t even begin to scratch the surface of all that you can see inside. The Summer Tribute Store was so much fun to explore and I can guarantee I will be back to see what else I can find inside! It is giving all the nostalgic vibes in the best way possible.
