Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort 2024

Last Updated: June 11th, 2024

If you are a fan of horror, Halloween, spooky time, amazing set design, or just want a new experience, Halloween Horror Nights (also known as HHN) may be just the event for you. This is a separately ticketed event that occurs in the Fall at Universal Orlando Resort. Warning that this event is scary, gory, and full of jump scares. It is a phenomenal event though and so much work is put into it.

The event has haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment, themed food & drinks, and more. The vibes during Halloween Horror Nights are unmatched and it truly is a special event. This year the event will have 10 haunted houses and 5 scare zones to explore.

Halloween Horror Nights 2024 Dates

The event runs on select evenings from 6:30pm until 2am. Yep, this event is a late one and you can truly party all night long and into the morning! Here are the event dates for the 2024 Halloween Horror Nights:

  • August: 30, 31
  • September: 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19. 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29
  • October: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 30, 31
  • November: 1, 2, 3

Generally, the first nights as well as the nights closest to Halloween will be the most crowded. In past years, September has been one of the slower times, although I will say that last year it was also very crowded in September. My biggest advice is to plan on staying the whole time if you are only going for a night or two. You can usually find much shorter waits the closer you get to 2am. To experience everything, I would recommend at least two nights, but there is so much to see that even two nights may not be enough.

You can also opt to purchase an express pass for the event to minimize your wait time. Or, you can also purchase R.I.P. Tours which are guided tours of the event that will allow you to skip the lines. Additionally, if you want to see the houses up close, during the daytime, and without the scares, you can also purchase tickets for “Behind the Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tour.”

Haunted Houses

There will be 10 haunted houses for the 2024 Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) event. Usually, Universal releases the themes of the houses throughout the year leading up to the start of the event. So far, we know one of the house themes.

Slaughter Sinema 2

The first house that was released is Slaughter Sinema 2. This house is a sequel to a fan-favorite house in 2018 called Slaughter Sinema. Along with the announcement, Universal also provided a short description of the house. “If you’re dying for a b-movie horror marathon, head to the Carey Drive-in. Scream through scenes from creature features, grindhouse gore, spaghetti westerns and more.”

This house sounds like a lot of fun and with the theme of b-horror movies, you can really see almost anything!

Goblin’s Feast

The second house announcement was for Goblin’s Feast. Here is a short description of the house from Halloween Horror Nights: “Welcome to the Goblin’s Feast Tavern and visit the goblin village where a lavish feast is being prepared for goblins, orcs, hobgoblins and witches. And you’re the main course.”

I am excited to see what this house looks like, and I really love the concept of it. I am hoping for there to be a lot of fantastical elements incorporated throughout.

Major Sweets Candy Factory

Next up is Major Sweets Candy Factory, the third house announced for HHN 2024. Here is the description for the house: “You’ve been invited to chaperone a field trip to a candy factory. The deadly delicious treats turn the kids into sugar-fueled fiends.”

There was a Major Sweets Candy Co. scare zone during a previous HHN event, and it was one of my favorites, so I am really excited to check out this house! You can do so much fun stuff with a candy factory and I love a horror twist on it. This is giving me Willy Wonka meets blood and gore vibes.

The Museum: Deadly Exhibits

The fourth house announced is The Museum: Deadly Exhibits. The description for this house is: “You decide to visit the new folklore museum exhibit, The Rotting Stone, when an evil escapes from within, destroying everything in its path.”

Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America

The fifth house announced is Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America. The description for this house is: “With La Muerte as your guide, you’ll be begging for piedad from these three terrifying legends: Tlahuelpuchi, La Lechuza and El Silbón.”

This house has been seen at Universal Studios Hollywood before and it was a hit on the other side of the country. I am excited about this house and to see the Latin American influences inside!

Triplets of Terror

Next up, we found out about the Triplets of Terror Haunted House. The description for this house is: “You’re invited to the Barmy triplets’ birthday bash. But beware, they celebrate by recreating their family’s murders. Prepare for a gory gathering.”

What could possibly go wrong with a birthday bash during Halloween Horror Nights? Absolutely nothing I am sure! I am sure it will be a pleasant, happy evening with absolutely no blood, gore, or screaming.

So far, all of these houses sound wonderful. I am on board with all of the original concept houses. While the ones based on IP like Stranger Things, The Exorcist, or The Last of Us, can be a lot of fun, I really love exploring whole new worlds and seeing what the creatives of Universal come up with.

A Quiet Place

The next haunted house is A Quiet Place. This was our first house announcement that was not an original house concept. This house will be based on the movies A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place 2. The description for the house is, “Make a sound and you won’t last long. Monstrous creatures who can hear the slightest noise will hunt you down and silence you for good as the post-apocalyptic world comes to terrifying life.”

I am really excited for this house too! I am so curious how they are going to take the quiet element into the house, and I am also very interested in seeing how quiet it will actually be inside the house. If you have been to Halloween Horror Nights before, you probably know that nothing is really quiet. A great first announcement for IP houses!

Scare Zones

There will be 5 different scare zones this year. We do not have any confirmation on the themes for any of the scare zones yet.

Food & Drink

In addition to the haunted houses and scare zones, the event also features a wide variety of themed food and drinks. There are various booths throughout the event that sell Halloween inspired grub, and you will also find bars throughout the event that can make various drinks and that sell pre-mixed cocktails. Check back later for more information on the food & drink coming to this year’s event!

Halloween Horror Nights Attractions

The fun doesn’t stop there though. You can also ride select Universal attractions during the event. And with so much else going on, you can usually ride these rides with very little wait. The following attractions will be available during Halloween Horror Nights:

  • Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
  • Transformers: The Ride – 3D (will be closing early)
  • Revenge of the Mummy
  • Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts (will be closing early)
  • Men in Black Alien Attack

Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store

Universal Orlando also creates a special store called the Tribute Store that is themed just for Halloween Horror Nights. There are tribute stores throughout the year with different themes including Mardi Gras, Jurassic Park, Christmas, and more. The Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store is an experience in it of itself, and is a must-do. You can also visit the tribute store during the day outside of event hours. There are various themed rooms and lots of merchandise to shop.

Halloween Horror Nights Merchandise

Of course, you can’t really have a special event without exclusive merchandise. Halloween Horror Nights is no different, and you can grab plenty of themed merchandise. Here is a look at some of the merchandise that has been released so far.

Halloween Horror Nights Tickets

Currently you can purchase single night tickets for the event. Additionally you can also purchase add-ons including the Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass, R.I.P. Tours, and Behind the Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tour.

As well, you can purchase tickets for the first ever Halloween Horror Nights Premium Scream Night. This is a one ticket only event that costs $350. You will be the first to experience HHN as it happens the night before opening night. It is a limited capacity event so you will be able to experience the haunted houses and scare zones with less people. They will also be sending you through the houses in groups, versus a continuous line, for maximum scariness. The event also include all you can eat of select food and drink, and the opportunity to ride select attractions. The event takes place on Thursday, August 29th.
