We have been waiting for this moment for forever, and it is finally here! We have an OFFICIAL opening date for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom.
The new attraction will be opening on June 28th, 2024! Ahead of the grand opening, there will be special previews for Cast Members, Annual Passholders, DVC members, and D23 Gold Members. It is truly such an exciting time and I can’t wait to see what is in store for us at the new attraction.
Upon opening, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be operating with a virtual queue and utilizing Genie+. This is an interesting change, as usually rides with a virtual queue require the purchase of an Individual Lightning Lane. However, it sounds like you will be able to book Tiana’s Bayou Adventure through the Genie+ service and it won’t be an a la carte ride option like Rise of the Resistance or Seven Dwarf Mine Train. I am curious to see how this works out, but I personally think the virtual queue is still the way to go!
A few notes about the virtual queue:
- You can join the virtual queue starting at 7am the day of your park visit through the My Disney Experience App. You will need a park reservation for Magic Kingdom, if applicable. Ahead of time, also make sure you are linked with your entire party on the My Disney Experience app. You can join the 7am queue from wherever you are, you do not need to be in the park or anywhere close to the park.
- There is also a second opportunity to join the queue at 1pm, but you will need to have scanned into the park already. So for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you will have to have scanned into Magic Kingdom prior to 1pm to be eligible to try to join the queue then.
- You can only join the virtual queue once per day per attraction. If you get a queue at the 7am drop, you won’t be able to ride again by also trying for the 1pm drop.
- You will get a boarding group number and that will determine when you will get to ride. The attraction will call groups as they are ready for them, and you generally have about an hour to get over to the attraction after your group has been called. TRON Lightcycle / Run is very strict on when you return, while Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is not as strict. Only time will tell as far as how strict Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be. I would guess they would be pretty strict to begin with, but we will see.
I am so excited for this ride, and I am hoping to be able to get a chance to ride it during Annual Passholder previews! I will be back with more updates as we hear more. Until then, happy travels! Please let me know if you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you!
